Website Design : Finding A Reliable Company That You Can Afford

July 15th, 2010 No comments

It is one thing to know you need to upgrade your website, or perhaps get your first, but it can be difficult to know exactly what you need to consider in relevance to that site, at least for somebody who is not well versed with the world wide web. The majority of businesses know they need websites, but have very little idea of what that website needs to do. It can be difficult to know precisely what a successful website needs, which is where web design companies come in. Choosing the right company can be confusing; there are certain things you should look out for when deciding which company to go with.

Hiring a web design company is like contracting any other sort of worker. Make sure you call them, ask them about their process, ask them about what happens if you do not like the way the site works, if they will take care of future revisions and if that costs extra. After all, some businesses end up stuck with a web design company that will not offer any further assistance after the website is complete. Also make sure you know what kind of content management system to expect and if it will be easy for you and your employees to update. And most importantly: ask for portfolio examples, make sure you like the look of their designs.

Ask about SEO – search engine optimization. This is the term that describes how a website is organized in order to increase its visibility in search engines. To do this a company should agree to build links to your website, optimize the keywords and keep the SEO updated on a regular basis. If the company fails to do this or is inexperienced when it comes to internet marketing your site will be hard for the public to find, which is obviously not the point of having a site.

You are not the only one who needs to ask the questions when looking for a good web design company. The company itself should be asking you the right questions so they can build an idea of what exactly your site needs to be and how it needs to operate. If they fail to understand the objectives of your site or your business, then the site will obviously fail in its objectives as well.

The web designer will be helping you resolve the issues of function, design and marketing of the website. The most important information that the web company needs to be aware of are the details of the customers you are hoping to reach. All the way from general questions like “What is your target market?” to “Are your customers technically savvy?” “Are they emotional and/or impulsive shoppers?” These questions and more are important when the design company goes to work to appeal to the clients you are trying to attract.

Hiring A Web Design Company

July 8th, 2010 No comments

Cost is obviously an important factor to consider when getting a new website designed by a web design company. For starters though, you need to know what your website is supposed to do for your business. What is the website meant to do add to your business? What end results are you expecting?

You should have some idea of what kind of content you need on your site and how many pages it will be, what images will be included, what will the basic structure of your site look like. To get some ideas you can visit other websites that perform similar roles to that which you want yours to perform and get an idea from there.

When you have determined these things and know the basic structure of your site and the objectives it needs to fulfill, you can begin talking to companies. What you need to realize about web design is there are a high amount of companies out there and each of them will fight for your business, with this in mind you are in a good bargaining position.

It is not unlike all of the other businesses in the market in that there are companies with varying degrees of quality; really good ones, really adequate ones, and then people who claim they can do it but really do not know how. Despite the lower price they may offer me, would they be able to give me the goods and offer me the website that I want? You have to be practical when dealing with these companies.

Your means will depend on your budget. If you have the benefit of a large company that has the capability of blowing tens of thousands of dollars on a web design company, you will be able to get the best website you could possibly imagine. Just do a simple web search and pick among the best options you find available. However, you might have to do some more investigating if you have a smaller budget.

You can find numerous web design companies that just consist of a handful of people, but who will be dedicated and skilled enough to get you the results you need. The best part is that, due to their lower overhead, they will charge you far less than the big guys do. As a result, you should look into these kinds of companies, as you can save money and still get great results.

From a viewer’s point of view, a web design is a fundamental step in the success rate of your web vision. An understanding of your concept is critical and it can direct your objective. A web design, no matter how successful it has become, needs redesign. It can refresh or revitalize your image. Careful planning and selection is another vital element in re-establishing a web design.

Over the passage of time, your web design’s existing concept and guise will seem old and incompetent compared to other websites swiftly progressing due to socio-economic progression and modifications. Instead of crafting a new website, you can generate a new face of your website creating similar response with a simple web redesign.

You can first identify the necessary changes to be made by looking at your website as a viewer, not as the proprietor. This way, you can identify your strengths and weaknesses in your current web design. Most of the time, an update of certain essential points (e.g. information) can create a difference to stand against competitions.

First thing to keep in mind is aesthetics. Your site should be attractive that it can catch the attention of any viewer, male or female. It should possess a sense of uniqueness to alter reality making a world remotely yours where people can relate. Make sure it can compel viewers of its graphics, images, content, layout, details and relevance. Your web design should be a threat to others. It should comply with attractiveness as well as its simplicity. Make sure it wouldn’t be irritating to the eyes (it may cause seizures to susceptible viewers). The homepage should contain all the necessary information that will enthrall your viewers to click and ask for more.

The web redesign should make a new face of your current web page as it not leaving its sole purpose. It needs to be well organized with all hyperlinks working. It can improve your business’s profitability by raising traffic to your site as it will add professionalism and competence to your website.

Website Design Guidelines

June 17th, 2010 No comments

Web design is not merely to create an attractive website. You also need to make an attractive, accessible and fully functional website that will convince your visitors to book an appointment, enquire or purchase a product. To have such as website, you need to have a good website design, easy and intuitive site navigation system, logical web layout and a very good web copy.

One of your goals is for the visitor to see you as a knowledgeable information source and a very good, reputable company. Thus, a poor grammar, haphazard flow and poor spelling will greatly reduce the credibility of your website, despite the impressiveness of your website design. It is important to note that people use the internet to find useful information. Whether you are selling your own products, advertising your own services or recommending the products and services of other people, it is important to provide valuable information to your visitors. Otherwise they will just go away and visit a website that can give them what they want.

Since there are over a hundred browsers to use, it is important for your website design to work effectively and properly in most of the widely used browsers. You may not maximise your website design to the fullest because of this as you need to take note of the effects that are supported in most browsers.

As a web browser yourself, you should now that it is very annoying to visit a webpage that takes longer than 10 seconds to load up. Studies show that people will navigate away from a website design that takes so long to load. Therefore, it is important to always optimize your photos and other graphics to have a small size without compromising the picture quality.

Note the use of height and width attributes on the picture so the web page can easily load while the graphic file is downloading. That way, you can make more efficient use of your website design.

Website Design: Color Issue

June 17th, 2010 No comments

The first thing you see on a web site as it is loading and after it has loaded is color. Many web designers overlook this minor detail when designing a website. In fact, color should be the initial thing considered for a website design. It creates an overall appearance of your website design’s entirety. It could either make or break you as it is first impression. One should pay close attention to the site’s color scheme as it can direct to a plain and boring fade or an intricate chaotic design. Careful selection is essential.

As I have read in Scott Pamatat of DesignMore.com’s article, the colors on the web browsers are limited to a 256 color scheme. It is even limited to a 216 color scheme as web browsers share only this much as all browsers don’t share the 256-color pallet.

Once you go beyond that 216 color scheme, you will be starting to use colors that aren’t recognized by your browser thus, inexistent. Although, the browser will try to come up with that color’s approximate color, known as dithering (okay, geek notes).

We use our sense of sight in viewing, making our website design a potential hazard. Our eyes can easily get tired and doze off when it sees a sudden change of colors and light as it is adapting. It gets mostly triggered and fix on strong, bright colors (e.g. yellow) hence, the hazard or caution sign is more on yellow. This gives you an idea not to make your visitor’s get irritated.

So in making a website design, always remember not to use bright colors on large scales but rather on small parts that you intend your readers to focus on. Better yet, minimize its usage. You can create a cool website design with the bright colors sparingly used and cool and relaxed color scheme be commenced. You’d be doing yourself a favor and your readers alike.

A Few Common Mistakes When Choosing Website Templates

May 26th, 2010 No comments

Anyone who is intending to create an Internet presence through the website will need to use website templates in order to design it. Thankfully there are literally thousands of different templates that you can choose from and these are littered all over the Internet for you to find. When it comes to the availability of these website templates this can actually cause a problem and people will end up making mistakes that really ought to be avoided.

One of the main mistakes that is common to see is that people will end up simply identifying a website template that is popular and then using it for themselves. Often the popularity of a template will simply mean that you are going to find many different websites all over the Internet that look the same. Setting up a website using a template such as this will therefore lead to you losing credibility.

People will often try to change any template that they get a little bit too much as well. There are some changes that really need to be made but many people will make too many alterations that create a template that is completely unrecognisable. The template you use should make the whole process simple and quick and so making too many changes is not the way to go.

However, that being said there are several different changes you may need to make. You may find a template that is complete is suitable but there are just a couple of alterations that need to be made. If this is the case, these should always be small and quick to do.

Choosing a website template that you like and basing your choice up on this is also a very big mistake to make. Any choice you make should be based upon the purpose of the website and how suitable the template is not because you like the look of it.

These are just a couple of mistakes that people often make when they choose website templates.

How To Avoid Irritating Design Flaws In Your Quality Web Design

April 7th, 2010 No comments

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but there are some things that are universally agreed upon. When designing a website there definitely limitations on what is considered attractive and irritating.

The job of a website designer is one that is often two fold. A website designer is responsible for creating great designs as well as avoiding creating designs that are not attractive to the majority. This is sometimes difficult if a client insists in some of the irritating aspects of website designing.

Today I am going to share with you my top five most irritating website designs of all time. Your list may be longer, but this is my top five.

Annoying Pop Ups:

Many people say that pop ups have actually increase their sales, but I cant imagine how when everyone I know hates them. Pop ups are especially annoying when you are in a hurry.

Loud Flash Presentations:

Loud flash introductions is a feature that I really do not like to use, they can be a great tool for capturing your visitors attention, and at the same time be very irritating with the loud music. This is especially true for the flash intros that do not give the option of skipping the presentation.

Light Colored Fonts With A Similar Background:

Using a light text color with a light background is really hard to read. A customer should not have to work their eyes too hard to read your content.

Fonts That Are Too Big:

Big fonts are a big turn off in my book. Whenever I land on a website with big fonts, I generally turn the page quickly. It generally makes me feel like I am reading a Sesame Street book.

Too Much Clutter:

Good content on a website is encouraged by many as well as the search engines. The problem with having too much content is when it is unorganized. A good way to solve this issue is by using drop down menus with multiple pages.

Creating quality web designs takes a lot of consideration. You must take into account what your targeted visitors may or may not like. In the end, the best designed websites are the ones that are moderate and incorporate everyone.
