How To Avoid Irritating Design Flaws In Your Quality Web Design

April 7th, 2010 No comments

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but there are some things that are universally agreed upon. When designing a website there definitely limitations on what is considered attractive and irritating.

The job of a website designer is one that is often two fold. A website designer is responsible for creating great designs as well as avoiding creating designs that are not attractive to the majority. This is sometimes difficult if a client insists in some of the irritating aspects of website designing.

Today I am going to share with you my top five most irritating website designs of all time. Your list may be longer, but this is my top five.

Annoying Pop Ups:

Many people say that pop ups have actually increase their sales, but I cant imagine how when everyone I know hates them. Pop ups are especially annoying when you are in a hurry.

Loud Flash Presentations:

Loud flash introductions is a feature that I really do not like to use, they can be a great tool for capturing your visitors attention, and at the same time be very irritating with the loud music. This is especially true for the flash intros that do not give the option of skipping the presentation.

Light Colored Fonts With A Similar Background:

Using a light text color with a light background is really hard to read. A customer should not have to work their eyes too hard to read your content.

Fonts That Are Too Big:

Big fonts are a big turn off in my book. Whenever I land on a website with big fonts, I generally turn the page quickly. It generally makes me feel like I am reading a Sesame Street book.

Too Much Clutter:

Good content on a website is encouraged by many as well as the search engines. The problem with having too much content is when it is unorganized. A good way to solve this issue is by using drop down menus with multiple pages.

Creating quality web designs takes a lot of consideration. You must take into account what your targeted visitors may or may not like. In the end, the best designed websites are the ones that are moderate and incorporate everyone.

How To Write An Ebook – A Simple Approach For Getting Your Idea In Digital Format

April 7th, 2010 No comments

With the advent of netbooks, smart phones and the Kindle Reader, writing ebooks is now seen as a plausible and achievable method for any author to publish their own work. This article provides a simple guide to getting the book idea from concept to digital format.

There is nothing worse than a rambling book that doesn’t maintain direction so step 1 has got to be establishing the fundamental objective of your book. Jot down your rough concepts on paper or any format on your computer – really anything that is quick to compile.

As the book’s concept takes form start to design the structure that the book is to take including the chapters/sections that should be covered. Delve down into this into sub-sections if desired. Restructuring the book is often easier at this point than after content has been written so take your time and achieve the structure that flows well for you.

If you intend writing the book yourself then you can start into writing the chapters. If you are outsourcing the content to experts then start contacting them and scheduling their work. Agree the file format in which content is to be delivered. When working with outsource partners it is a safe bet to use a PDF, Microsoft Word or Open Source file format.

As you write, or compile the copy received in from other writers, you should safeguard the work by saving versions of your master document to an external drive or some other format. Use the auto-save function available on most processors to periodically save your work as you write.

Next decide upon the design of your ebook. You can outsource this design too if desired. Try to maintain an overall branding for the book with a consistent to the header section, footer section, cover/splash page (the first page in the book that generally sets the tone of the book) and the choice and sizes of fonts used.

For added impact, don’t forget that the ebook will probably be read on a monitor/laptop screen/ebook reader so traditional page formats can be toyed with. Some great ebooks have been written with relatively little content but they have added impact through strategic use of images, varying font sizes to emphasize important points and using color to highlight/structure content in a pleasing manner.

The final step is to create your Portable Document Format (PDF) file. In Word this is one of the options in the Save As menu while on most other word processors, such as the Open Office Suite, you can simply Export As PDF.

Microsoft Takes Over Yahoo

The unconvincing issue around the net is the booming domination by the leading players. Google and Microsoft, Microsoft and Google, are there really anyone else in command of the information highway? Truthfully while Yahoo was never a search engine superpower, it has been containing its own on the net, well that’s at any rate until they came across a deal with Microsoft, that is correct, now Microsoft will be taking over Yahoo search

Yahoo has been trading away assets left and right at least of late, since their current chief executive officer Carol Bartz assumed the helm. Only rather than bringing in the boastful alterations that this search engine called for in order to repossess some of their force on the internet she has little by little sold away bits of this company cutting it to nothing more than a inferior presence on the internet the equivalent of AOL.

Microsoft made it appear that this alteration would profit both companies in principle they are simply annihilating more of the competition which assists them in drive their freshest embark Bing into a 2nd commanding position to Google, still distinctly ranked considerably higher up whatever additional competitor. In the end while this deficiency of selection will cost consumers a lot of money as the less competition there is the more companies could charge for their services giving you no alternative but to ante up the super- amplified charges that they serve.

Ultimately, Microsoft gaining Yahoo search will bring down this one time rival to nothing more than a humble influence among the net. This means that there will essentially be simply two SEs among the net and these participants are Google and Bing and that being said this will allow for not solely a gain in the cost of things like pay-per-click ads but will also restrict the users to finding exclusively what these two SEs take for important. Since each SE runs its personal algorithm this will greatly impact internet commercializing across-the-board.

And while it might be great to see Yahoo attempt and gain a little ground from these two net giants for today it’s time to say sayonara to Yahoo search. We can simply hope that soul else brings forth a fresh SE that could give these two companies a run for their net worth.

There are numerous ways that a SEO company can be sure that their website has the best possible Search engine optimisation. If you are just starting out and want some assistance with getting your company off the ground go to www.seomoves.com.au.
