The two buttons are black and white and adjust the brightness of the display and turn the frame on or manually connect it to the internet respectively. The operating system used by the frames is called PSOS and is designed for PDAs and other small devices.

The frame creates a photo gallery by connecting to the internet and a powers source. The white button at the back is used to turn on and connect the frame to the internet and display the original pictures stored on the frame. Only pictures and settings can be downloaded to the frame with this connection.

After the frame connects to the internet, it logs on to the Cieva servers and downloads the new pictures and settings not present in the frame. After downloading is finished, the internet is disconnected and the new pictures are displayed by the frame.
