How To Get Local Publicity To Promote Your Book

January 24th, 2010 No comments

There are many book titles that you see on the shelves of bookstores and in libraries. They may have some of the best information, or tell the best stories that have ever been written. However, if the author was not marketed by a well known publisher or did not have the tools and ideas to show that book promotion and publicity market your book.

With the many online companies that will help you self-publish, once completed, the tasks of promotion and publicity fall into your hands. Depending on the topic, you will be able to find many local options to get your book and your face in front of a potential buying audience. However, be aware of many companies online that claim that they can help you. They will offer you online seminars on the proper procedures and techniques to get your book out to the public. Just be careful as if you published this piece yourself, you may have budget constraints and all of this can cost you quite a lot of money. What they will attempt to show you, in many cases, is the use of common sense. You will be exposed to marketers that are more interested in selling you stuff, more than they are interested in helping you sell your book, or at least make people aware that you wrote something of value. So, beware.

Depending on the size of the closest major city, you can find multiple chances to put your composition out to the public. Hopefully, some of these ideas will help you with your launch. However, know this. Although you have written what you hope will be a well received piece of literature, how you market the book and yourself will go a long way in establishing your success.

Depending on the topic, there will likely be a local radio station that covers a similar topic. They are always looking for interesting guests and topics that may make their listeners more interested. Listen to your local stations and find someone that is normally discussing a topic at least somewhat similar to what you written. Give them a call or send them an email with a biography of you and the book. You will likely hear back from them and you may be on your way. If the topic is more mainstream, use the same process to your local television stations. Again, with the plethora of local programming, you may be able to get a slot on a local morning show or again, a show discussing similar topics.

How many bookstores are within 50 miles of where you live? Once you know that, contact them. Usually the best method is to make a personal visit and speak with the owner of the store. Again, assuming you have written about an interesting topic, you may get them to let you do a book signing. If you are really good, they may let you have a discussion group in the store explaining your topic and why you chose to write about it. Then you can meet with your potential customers, they can learn to like you and that generally creates some interest in buying your book. So, be prepared. You will need fliers and copies of the book. Try to set it up so you have a couple of weeks to advertise your visit. If you can tie that into a slot on a local radio or television station, you may be very surprised at how many people show up.

Every city has multiple Networking meetings. It is the newest way to expose your business to other business owners. They have developed into legitimate marketing opportunities and you may meet some people that can assist you in other marketing areas, as well. Just by meeting and discussing the reasons that you wrote your book and what you expect the readers to get out of it, will likely generate some sales and at least start a bit of a buzz, when used in conjunction with your other marketing efforts.

Please remember that these are public events. You will need to take some time to get prepared. The perception of the quality of your book will go hand in hand with your personality in promoting it. The better prepared you are to discuss the topic, the purpose, your motivation for writing it etc., the better it will be received.

Other than the Internet, this type of marketing requires you to be personable, professional and prepared. The quality of your book will be perceived by how you present it to the world. So take as much time as you need to get ready for your next and most important task, because if you do not market your book well, no one will likely buy it and your time and efforts will have been wasted. But, if you can convey the real meanings of the book and the potential impact it will have on people, personal contact will go a long way in getting the exposure that you want.

Book promotion may seem to be an impossible task, there are numerous opportunities for you to take this most important step. Loads more information on promoting books .

You really want to do all that you can to make your employees happy and keep them thrilled to be working with you. One way to keep them happy is to show them how much they mean to you. There are many ways to do this. One thing that will make a difference is giving employees nice promotional gifts. Everyone likes to get presents every once in a while. You want to keep your employees happy enough to stick around because it does make life easier for everyone.

When a company takes that extra step to include employees in the marketing plan it benefits the company in the long term. Employees who feel that a company cares enough about them to offer a few extra bonus items during the year are more likely to remain employed at that company and to tell others that it is a great place to work. They have gifts to prove it!

The thing that you want to stick to with company gifts is making them promotional gifts. You want to have your company name and logo on there. It will make the gift something that can’t be found any other place and it will get advertising for you as well. It will add to the camaraderie of the job and office as well.

Promotional items can be branded with imprinting, embossing, engraving or etching on materials they are made from. Add a company name or logo, a product image or information or just put on a catchy company slogan. The imprinting personalizes the items for the company or product being advertised. In some cases the promotional products can be sold for profit at retail or used in fund raising efforts successfully.

As employees display these incredible promotional items that they have earned, they will be proud to be an employee of your business and they will show them off to others, offering you additional advertising for your business. Incredible promotional items make a great advertisement for your business, but having happy, motivated employees can go even further in promoting your business. So being using these promotional rewards with your employees and watch how your business takes off.

If you are searching to advertise you business, consider promotional products with your logo. You can also use promotional gifts to put your business name in view. For promotional products check out www.promotionalpromos.com.

Silence and Peace Give Way To Love

This day in age, people are turning to religion in droves. Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism has embedded it’s ideology in the hearts and minds of millions globally. While all these religions deserve respect and tolerance, few in the west have a grasp on the complicated concept of Buddhism.

The end all and be all of online encyclopedias, Wikipedia grabs the first slot on a Google search for the term Buddhism and the breakdown reads like this: “Buddhism is a religion and a philosophy encompassing a variety of traditions, beliefs and practices, largely based on teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama, commonly known as the Buddha (Pali/Sanskrit “the awakened one”). The Buddha lived and taught in the northeastern Indian subcontinent sometime between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE.

He is recognized by adherents as an awakened teacher who shared his insights to help sentient beings end suffering, achieve nirvana, and escape what is seen as a cycle of suffering and rebirth. Buddhism is traditionally conceived as a path of liberation attained through insight into the ultimate nature of reality. Two major branches of Buddhism are recognized: Theravada (“The School of the Elders”) and Mahayana (“The Great Vehicle”). Theravada, the oldest surviving branch, has a widespread following in Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia, and Mahayana is found throughout East Asia and includes the traditions of Pure Land, Zen, Nichiren Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, Shingon, Tendai and Shinnyo-en. In some classifications, a third branch, Vajrayana, is recognized, although many see this as an offshoot of the Mahayana. While Buddhism remains most popular within Asia, both branches are now found throughout the world.

Various sources put the number of Buddhists in the world at between 230 million and 500 million.” After living abroad in Asia for several years I have found that Buddhist cultures are more tolerant because the focus is on the ‘self’ and the meditation on the calming of the mind, concentrating on controlled breathing and the idea that meditation to bring one closer to peace is central to discovering one’s self.

If you have the opportunity to investigate the practice of Buddhism, I would highly recommend it. I’m not saying to take up the path and convert to a religion but the calming affect that is central to this religions concept will bring a peaceful serenity to your life that you may find useful. All in all respect and tolerance for all religious perspectives is something that people are beginning to make a conscious effort to practice and understanding ideas from various religions can teach us an appreciation that can bring us all closer together.
